"Outside The Limit" by Ole Børud Chosen by IMC's Scott Sheriff

Ole has done it again with "Outside The Limit".

From the opening strains of “Put My Money” you hear shades of Steely Dan’s “Josie” but it’s just a momentary nod. If you miss the golden age of AOR then this record is for you.
The grooves, arrangements, melodies, and adult chord changes are all there in all the tracks. Lyrically, Ole returns to his spiritual roots perhaps a tad more than on his previous release "Stepping Up", but not on every track. This new release provides an extremely well-rounded look at this extremely talented artist. I hear shades of Al Jarreau in “Talk to My Lawyer” and “Can’t Pretend”, Phil Collins in the title track, current era Fagen in “Blaming Game”, and even a touch of Bruno Mars in “Good Time”, and a little Daft Punk in “Fast Enough”.

All in all this is a fantastic offering and far and away the best record I’ve heard in a long time. If you haven't heard this solid album, treat yourself!

Happy Holidays!
