news > CONGRATULATIONS TOTO! You guys are in the Musicians Hall of Fame!

Dear Dave P, Luke, Steve P, David H, Mike, and of course, Jeff. Congratulations from all of us at Inside MusiCast on your long-over-due recognition. You guys, and those who you have collaborated with over the years, have been influencers in music...much more than people realize. But on Monday, you get yours. Best to you all.

We love you guys....you have a special place in our hearts.

This is an honor that is long overdue. The Musicians Hall Of Fame is only a few years old and they wasted no time in recognizing the best musicians on the planet. Unlike the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, which has apparently snubbed you, the Musicians Hall Of Fame appears to be on the right path for celebrating the true musicians in the industry, and they're welcoming you home.

Steve Lukather, David Paich, Steve Porcaro, Jeff Porcaro, David Hungate and Mike Porcaro - my sincere congratulations and respect go out to all of you. You, too, Bobby. I'm so sorry the rules for this event can't include you.

Congrats to one of my all time favorite bands and collection of humans! You guys are the epitome of taste in the studio and have consistently given nothing but your best. Special thanks to Paich for helping out my friend's High School jazz program (you know who they are); the kids appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

My heartfelt thanks to all the musicians, writers, producers and vocalists who worked on the music of Toto over the years. I'll continue to cherish this amazing music as it has "set the bar" for other bands to try and pass for me.

Great to see a distinguished organization such as The Musicians Hall Of Fame here in the U.S. has the presence of mind to acknowledge your incredible contributions to music. The only reason I believe more accolades haven't rolled in is that you made it look too damned easy.

Have a fantastic night guys.

With Respect & Admiration,

I remember the day I bought your first album in 1977 and it has never left my turntable, cassette deck and now iPod. You are truly deserving of the honor. An inspiration to musicians everywhere for your work together and solo work along with the countless sessions and amazing music you made through the years. I finally saw my first Toto show in 2007 and it was worth the wait. I missed Paich, Steve, Mike and of course Jeff, but in all the shows I have witnessed through the years, it was still as memorable as any. And it was in a great small venue and I can't tell you how lucky I felt that night to be so close to some of my musical heroes.

Congratulations Toto! Thanks for every great note you have laid on us.

With Much Admiration and Respect.

Congratulations to all Toto members!
I have been a fan of the guys since Toto's first album in 1978 (I was 15 years old then and they revolutionized my thinking about music). After buying a few of their albums after that I realized that I did not have to pre-listen to their albums in the record shop anymore before buying (it was a usual way those days to check out if you liked the album or not), because Toto's albums were always so well done that I knew I would love them anyway.

I am glad that the guys finally get the recognizion that they deserve. The members of Toto have always been amongst the best musicians on this planet. And although the singers are not credited (because they do not play an instrument), in my opinion the singers use their voice as an instrument and I consider them to be musicians too, so in my heart they are also getting this recognizion.

My life would have been much worse without this band.

With all my respect,

We wish we could have made the trip to Nashville for your honor.

Toto deserves this recognition, as they have always been the cream of the crop in musicianship. All one has to do is search the liner notes of most any major recording artist in the 80's and you'll see the names of Toto members laying down some fine music.

Thanks to the band for years of fantastic music and a legacy that deserves an honor such as this. Congrats.

Guys,
My deepest, heartfelt congratulations on this upcoming honor. No musicians could be more deserving and I only hope this is the first of many deserved recognitions for each of you.
Toto's music and the countless other music you all have touched represent the soundtrack of my life. From the time I heard "Girl Goodbye" in my ex brother in law's home studio back in 1978, I was hooked.
I absolutely love you guys and am so thankful I will be there for Monday's ceremony. God bless each of you!

Congratulations guys. My deepest respect to you who have been my light through the music universe your entire carrier. Since the first time my friends sister played the cassette with TOTO and I heard “I supply the love” my feelings for these guys has been so deep. One of my first records I bought was the Hydra record, and it was HUGE when I sat down and listen to this music and read the linear notes. The biggest moment was when you played here in Fredrikstad/Norway, 200 m from my house. It was an incredible happening. I wish you all I bright future, and remember age is just a number. Looking forward to listen to the music popping up from all of the guys, and may be some day we may see a reunion tour? Also want to thank Rick and Eddy for giving the fans of this remarkable band constant input what is going on with “my guys”. And at last, God bless Jeff!!

Best regards Peder

I would like to show all my recognition and my admiration for the members of TOTO, whose music has changed my life since I was 5 years old.
Just after I saw the concert in Paris recorded in October 1990, I told my parents that I wanted to become a drummer. Thank you Jeff Porcaro, if you can see us from up there and you too Steve Lukather, David Paich, Mike Porcaro, Steve Porcaro, David Hungate and all the others members, without you I would not have become what I am today.
God bless you all, take care and... may the force will be with you... always.

A huge congrats to all the boys, Uncle Joe, back up singers, percussionist, arrangers, orchestras, and all the other musical friends you have brought together that made this outstanding accomplishment come true. 30,000,000 records sold? WOW! The entire music industry would not be the same without you. We can definitely feel Jeff's satisfaction from above! Here's to you bud! The rock and roll hall of fame should be ashamed of themselves for bypassing you all these years. Those that have been inducted there would not have gotten there without you as well in some cases. Like we say in Italian - boce oo-gule!! That's where they can kiss! The entire world continues to keep Mike in our prayers every single day. We love you. This honor was a long time coming. Musicians Hall of Fame - you really nailed it!

Well deserved :-)
These guys changed my life. They`re like breathing air to me. I don`t think I would`ve survived without their music. Congratulations!!! I`m so happy for you. I am thankful that I had the chance to see you playing live 2 times and grateful that your were around in my lifetime. God bless you Mike, Steve, David H., David P., Steve P., and of course the man, the legend, the myth, Jeffrey Porcaro.

Eddy and Rick,
thank you for your Musicast. There`s no other podcast show than yours. Thanks to you, I had the chance to hear many of my favorites musicians talk about their carrers and life. God bless you both!

Iver,

No, Mike was not able to attend the induction ceremony. His children, Brianne, Sam and Jeff, accepted his award.

Makes it seem like Mike's problem is far worse than a simple hand condition. Did he get MS or something? We can just hope that whatever is the issue, his quality of life gets better. He's brought a lot of joy with his musicianship.
