Chris Rodriguez
BGVs: Big Gun Vocals
Our guest is one of the hardest working musicians and singers today. For over a decade, you’ve heard Chris Rodriguez adding his rich background vocals to studio and live performances for Shania Twain, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Billy Joel, Wynonna, and many others. But don’t underestimate his vocal versatility — he’s just finished laying down backing tracks for MegaDeth’s latest project and is currently touring with Kenny Loggins. He’s also ready to go on the road with Country Mega-star Keith Urban for a year. Chris is Nashville’s most sought after backing vocalists because he can sing anything. He’s blessed with incredible vocal range and even delivered a solo project recently. This only confirms this man’s talent. And, did we mention that he is an incredible guitarist? Inside MusiCast welcomes the talented Chris Rodriguez.
Hello,
I have just listened to a portion of the Chris Rodriguez interview. It is wonderful. What a wonderful podcast!!
Thank you so much for the interview with Chris Rodriguez. As a fan of Kenny Loggins, I can't tell you how thrilling it is when you walk into the venue and see that Chris Rodriguez is there!!! He is amazing and they are amazing together.
I am writing because fortunately a fan of Keith Urban and Kenny Loggins posted a note about the interview. She will be posting a link to your site and the Keith Urban fan site tomorrow so that people can find the podcast.
I plan to download the Chris Rodriquez podcast, then the Freddy Washington podcast. Then I plan to subscribe--I have dial-up so it takes a good while to download. That is why I have only listened to a portion of the Chris Rodriguez interview.
Please don't forget us Kenny Loggins fans when you interview present and former band mates okay? And BTW we would love it if you interview Kenny!!! Okay, I know your focus is behind the music but I thought it might be worth try!!
Thank you so much for making these interviews available!!!
Eddy & Rick
Thanks for having me on your podcast! Believe me, the pleasure was ALL MINE!!! It was fun. What a great honor to have done it for you guys....Thank you for the opportunity. Again, the honor was mine...Please give my best to Rick
Best,
Chris
How do I get in touch with Chris? I went to high school with him and played drums with his younger brother. He was a tremendous talent back then and it's great that he's been so successful. Thank you.
Charles, We'll pass your information on to Chris. I'm sure he'll want so say hi. So, tell me about his brother...was it in a band or a school thing?
e
Chris's interview was awesome. It was interesting to hear about his career in his own words.
I really enjoyed the interview.
Thanks.
The Podcast was great. I like the fact that you finally get to hear the musicians who help make an entertainer what they are.
Also, wanted to make a comment about Chris. I met Chris in Atlanta and would like to say thanks to him for not only a being great musician, but a wonderful and considerate person. You took so much time out of your busy schedule to talk, sign autographs and take pictures with myself and my 2 daughters. We adore you. When going to a Keith Urban concert, we very much look forward to seeing you and hearing you play. You are definitely a class act.
THANK YOU for a wonderful interview. It's so rare that one gets to listen to an interview with intelligent questions and interesting answers to those questions. You guys ROCK. I was mesmerized the first time I listened! What a wonderful gift for Chris Rodriguez fans. He is an amazing musician, and it was so great to hear his take on things. Thanks again for one of the most interesting interviews I have ever heard.
Teri, Debbie and Lori,
Thanks for taking time to post a message here on our web site. We really appreciate your wonderful comments and thank you so much for listening to the podcast.
Best wishes and Happy Holidays!

I also wanted to say thank-you for the great interview with Chris. I had the opportunity to talk to him about music a year or so ago and I know he is a huge Beatles fan, as I am having grown up in England in the sixties. It was especially interesting to hear him mention the Yardbirds and the Kinks, both of whom I was lucky enough to see live.
Thanks to both of you and to Chris of course for bringing back some great memories!!
Hi,
Was wondering if you could help me contact Chris by forwarding this message. I met Chris this past summer, in Soo Michigan, after Keith's concert. Chris indulged my request for an autograph for a favourite uncle, "Uncle Rich", who had just purchased a Deering Banjo. Chris spent time sharing information about the instrument, and then we slipped right into conversation about our most common interest...our kids. After the concert I located a copy of Chris's CD, Beggars Paradise, and have since been immersed in the music and lyrics. It's a beautiful and timely merging of Chris's love of faith, family and music. The CD has come to have great meaning for me, and travels between my home, car and work. My uncle treasures the autograph, which he keeps beside his Deering, and he and my aunt continue to enjoy their Beggars Paradise CD, which I gave them. I was able to find two more copies of the CD for friends for Christmas. At this time of year I wanted to thank Chris again for sharing his gift with all of us, and specifically for sharing his time with me Michigan.
Peace to you and your family Chris.

Hi,
Chris Rodriguez is an awesome musician, quite genious if you ask me. I saw him on a MWS music video from the 80's and saw him live in the Heart in Motion concert for Amy Grant. Yeah I have never in my life seen such an awesome guitarist- real soul and genious. He has influenced my own guitar playing hugely. His voice is also amazing.
I was going to say- Chris it would be awesome to see you do a solo guitar album of the likes of Steve Vai or something... Are you going to do another album.
Stick close to God too! Have you a myspace?
Chris Rodriguez is an amazing musician. His talent, voice, and guitar skills have moved people and fans all over the world. This interview was so great, and all of us who have had the chance to meet Chris, or are fans of him, appreciate his realness, talent, and humor so much! Thank-you for this, I'll be sure to check in for more interviews.

Trish,
So many people wish to get their hands on the CD, but I think it's out of print and Chris doesn't own the rights. He mentioned to us before the interview that his label owns the project...thus the out-of-print status of Beggar's Paradise. Sorry. I wish you luck....there's got to be one available somewhere. Great album.

Trish, I think Alexander and Gregs were automated servers....posting insignificant random posts. They were posts from loan companies.
Had to delete them, unfortunately.
I've had to do tons of house cleaning on people posting crap....I apoogize if you've seen some ot the offensive posts that bad people put on our site....I have to work hard to stay on top of it. Bear with me.
E

Here it goes... I was fortunate to take my daughter to the 12/1 Bham Keith Urban concert. We had 2nd row, seats 1 & 2 next to the catwalk... I love Keith but was blown away by Chris and his performance... dont get me wrong... the entire band is blessed with talent and Keith as well but.... where most eyes were on keith, I found myself following Chris.
Chris, not sure if you will get or "remember" due to sooo many fans but, I had the blonde curls... I was the only one that night you came over and gave your pick from your mouth with... I was not sure how to take that pic but I did like any southern girl would with my hand.
I won the backstage for 4/25 in Atlanta to meet Keith but I have the same seats but ont he "Opposite" side of where you are... Row 2, seats 1 & 2 to the catwalk but maybe you will remember...
I am actually coming down to Atlanta that Thursday and will spend the night. Hope the band hangs out in the bar... I would love to meet you and tell you in person what a blessing you are and maybe get another signature...
Hope you have a Happy new Year!!
amy
Amy,
You are totally right! Chris is one of the most talented and underecogized stage musicians out there right now. His vocals are second to none....as you probaby heard on the interview (I'm assuming you did)....and he's also one heck of a guitarist and righter.
I'm wondering what happened to his solo album....it was supposed to be done by now.
If you know anything, let us know.
Thanks for the comments.
Eddy
Eddy,
Thanks for the response.
I hope to see Chris that Thursday night 4/24 in Atlanta, if I am lucky again.
I met up with another group from Omaha that sat on the front row in front of me at the Bham concert. Thay have been following the Keith Urban tour. What's so bad is we spent the night after the concert in Bham in the Sheraton and the band was in the bar that night.... I didn't have a clue...
I made friends with the girls that sat in front of me and they are flying to Atlanta in April to see Keith's show again.
Eddy, you know if I had one wish, it would be that Chris could get this email I posted yesterday and today to you...
If I may share a short story. I am a only child...small town girl... My best friend was my mom. I was fortunate to be blessed with a daughter that my mom gave voice lessons to 8 years ago. Her name is Mollie. We come from a family that loves music... I myself have survived cancer not once but twice... February of 06 I finished up my Chemo... July of 06, my mom died unexpected of a heart attack. This past year has been so very hard for me. Mollie stopped singing because she said it hurt too much without Mom being here.
I work in Commercial Sales.. excellent with clients, bubbly and believe it or not, when my hair came back, it came back in spiral blonde curls... It was straight prior to... I will not complain... there are some days I "Thank God" when I put mascara on for my eyelashes and those curls everyone says they would die for...
Anyway, in December, I paid a lot of money for Mollie & I to have the 2nd row, seats 1 & 2 next to the catwalk to see Keith Urban. I purchsed my new Monkeyville T, put on some jeans and off we went to the concert...
Mollie & I planned a mom/daughter weekend in Bham. Again, I found myself listening and watching the talent of Chris. He blew me away.
He kept throwing pics but I missed them so he was so kind to come over before the end of the concert and kneel down with the pic for me. I was the only one he did that for that night. He also came back and signed a poster for me.
My daughter was blown away by this night. In fact, she will be starting back up voice & guitar 1/21. She said she wants to sing again. I think that night helped her get back into the music atmosphere.
I won the backstage experience in Atlanta 4/25 for Keith Urban. I want to see Keith and also Carrie Underwood but honestly I want to watch and hear Chris and his talents. I am going down the night before which they play as well in hopes that the band might walk across the street after the concert to the Holiday Inn Bar...
I would like to personally tell Chris how talented he is and how not just Keith but his music touched my daughter and myself that night.
I have ver long days, stress of sales, and I miss my mom.... but if I feel bad, I just put in Keith Urban's "Days Go By" song... I connect with that. It helps on days that I wished if given that opportunity to get out of my small town, I would. I'd probably hop on that tour bus and ice down drinks if given an opportunity...that just doesnt happen in real life at least not for me.
Not sure how far this will get, but it would be great if Chris would look over to row 2, on the opposite side of where he stands, seat 1 &2 4/25 in Atlanta... I'm gonna have my MOnkeville shirt on again but just a smile would be great from him. I would love to tell him in person how blessed he is and how he has touched my heart...I also have a banjo story to tell him...
Could you forward?
Eddy, I will let you know if I find out anything about his solo... I would be the first in line after all of this to buy.
Happy New Year, may God Bless you.
amy
Amy.
I agree. He is a pretty amazing Soul...and on top of that- an INCREDIBLE musician! to say the least. He has a way of taking you in while performing on stage heh? Keith is very lucky to have him as his lead guitarist...but I'm sure he knows it.
He probably does read this board and is very VERY appreciative of you and your story and probably, along with all of us, will Pray for a better, stronger, more Positive year for you.Remember-as Keith sings it- "We're headed for a Better Life"
God Bless You Amy! and thanks for sharing such a personal story.
Kyla
P.S.If he's at that bar, you go up and introduce yourself missy! I'll be praying for ya.
Amy....
I like Kyle will be praying for you. Although you're going through the fire, remember that it will only make you stronger in the long run. You're perspective is one that many don't ever have...and many can't understand the nuances of what you described in your post, but some can relate. I can. Everything you are going through, my dad endured. And, I DO believe your funny story of your hair coming back BLONDE and CURLY! That is so funny...my Dad's hair fell out twice during his illness and his "straight BLACK" hair grew out white and curly! Isn't it funny how God injects a little humor to enjoy during crisis? I truly can feel your strength in your post....and maybe anyone who reads it. I'm confident that you're perspective on life has definately changed things for you...but, that's what life is all about. The great thing to know is that there is someone much greater than all of us who has this whold "life" thing under control. That makes me sleep soundly at night....and I'm sure you can too.
Prayin' for you too.
BTW, I'm agreeing with Kyla that Chris probably browses through this site....and enjoys his posts....so if you're out there, Chris....drop us a line, man!!
Regards,
Eddy
InsideMusiCast
Thanks Kyla & Eddy...
Your words are so appreciative...
I know one thing, I am so excited about my 4/25 concert...
I will make sure "Eddy" if I am fortunate enough to see him at the Bar 4/24 after that concert, I will mention your site and also ask about his solo album.
I would just like that 5 minutes of normal conversation with no pictures, etc...
My favorite verse to one of Keith's song is "I got the sun a shine n', and the road is wind n', and the prettiest country from GA to TN... (& AL)... who wouldnt want to be me?
Live, Laugh & Love..
I'll be in touch... and (Chris!! please remember the curls...the New Monkeyville Tshirt & Jeans,,,to to the Bar after the 4/24 show just to say "Hello!!"
love to all,
amy
Hi E just wanted to stop by to say hi and hope that christmas and new year went well for u and the family chris new cd is still not out yet i dont know what the hold up is but i will be glad when it comes out but if i hear anything i will give u a yell seeya trish or T
Dear E i think your right chris has been so beasy that he dont have time to even breath every one wants him but what can we say when your good your good i hope you can get chris on the show that would be great talk later Trish
Dear Eddy,
I was just stopping by to say "hello"
I am getting excited about the Keith Urban/Chris experience at their 4/25 Atlanta concert.
I also wanted to let you know that my daughter, Mollie has started her guitar lessons and has started "singing" again. It feels my heart with Joy to hear her voice again since my mother's passing.
I hope after a year of voice, I can bring her to Nashville for some additional vocal lessons. It is hard knowing "who" to take her to.
If you have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I know there are so many that come to Nashville but I want my daughter to experience a true musical journey but with the right people.
Thanks so much!
Amy Meeks
Eddy,
I just returned from the Atlanta GA, Keith Urban concert.
I had front roll, seats 1 & 2 to the cat walk.
Chris remembered me from Bha, AL concert in December.
He gave me his wrist band at the end of the show in which he leaned over and I asked him if he remembered me and he did...
He is so talented. If you know of a mail address I could send a letter to Chris, it would be greatly appreciated.
Amy Meeks
Chris eu me interessei por guitarra desde quando vi um show muito antigo do Michael W smith o the big picture tour live queria muito que me indicasse uma forma de conseguir o show
agradecido

Some thought: Meeting Chris was one of the golden experiences for me. If you dig into his work, and really study it, you'll find that he is one of the best in the industry. His mastering of the backing vocal craft is leaves me boggled. He can actually mold his sound to the need...take the time and listen. You'll see what I mean. But, you'll need to concentrate and really listen. Simply amazing.
